October 20, 2024, 11AM PDT episode 6: IT’S ONLY A PAPER MOON

We will learn two solo uke arrangements of the beautiful Harold Arlen classic “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” one simple, one more complex. We will also explore creating variation by altering the melody, adding solo fills, rhythmic expression and flourishes. We will also reconnoiter a “chord per note” approach in the style of Lyle Ritz. As usual, there will be jam tracks, chord shapes, theory break throughs, prizes and a flea circus. Okay there won’t be a flea circus. But, the rest is true…JOIN THE CLUB!

August 18, 2024, episode 5: IN A SENTIMENTAL MOOD

We learned two arrangements of the beautiful Duke Ellington classic “In a Sentimental Mood,” one simple, one more complex, and explored creating variation by altering the melody, adding solo fills, rhythmic expression and finger-style flourishes. And, as usual, there were jam tracks, chord shapes, theory break throughs and more…SO MUCH FUN!
