Chord melody is a solo ukulele technique which allows you to play chords and melody at the same time. It’s magic!
Chord Melody Club is a series of online ZOOM workshops where I share my favourite chord melody arrangements. In every workshop we look at at least two chord melody arrangements for the song we are focusing on. One arrangement is beautiful and simple and the other is more complex with more details and fancy bits. We also look at theory, chord shapes, right and left hand techniques and so much more. There are also quizzes and prizes. It’s a blast!
The workshops are recorded, so even if you can’t make it for the scheduled time, you can still watch it after the fact.

Chord Melody Club episode 8: Hip Hug-Her
We will learn two solo ukulele arrangements of the super-funky Booker T and the M.G.s tune, “Hip Hug-Her.” One arrangement will be very simple, the other more showy. We will explore combining a bass line with percussive chunking techniques and the melody to make the arrangement really groove. In addition we will learn to play bluesy licks along with a bass pattern to create a cool solo section. As usual, there will be jam tracks, chord shapes, theory breakthroughs, prizes and a free package of sea monkeys for the 85th person to sign up. Just kidding about the sea monkeys.
