UD#119 It’s in the Cards!
from Ukulele in the Dark with Guido Heistek
Last year, I wrote an article called “The Meridians of the Uke.” In it we focused on four areas of the ukulele neck which I called “Meridians:”
-the open notes, GCEA
-the fifth fret notes, CFAD
-the 7th fret notes, DGBE
-the 12th fret notes, GCEA
These Meridians can be helpful when learning the notes up the neck of the uke.
Here’s a diagram:
As a follow up to the newsletter, I created some quiz cards. I’ve been using them with students, and they’ve really enjoyed it.
Here’s a video showing you how to use the cards, and how we can use the Meridians to help us to determine the notes up the neck of the uke.
Make the Cards!
If your printer prints single-sided, you can print the front and back pages, glue them together, and cut them out to make the cards. This is actually desirable because it makes the cards thicker, so you can’t see through them.If your printer does double-sided printing, you can print the document double-sided to make the cards.
All for now! See you next time,
Guido
